Welcome to our Year 1 Classes

My name is Mrs Kooner and I’m thrilled to be your teacher this year. I am looking forward to having some super exciting fun as well as great learning in Elephants with you all. The subjects I like to teach include Maths, PE and Art. My favourite activities are painting, drawing and solving puzzles. I love animals and my favourite animal is a dog. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I am so excited to have a fun filled year with you all and watch you all grow.

My name is Mrs Kalapi and I will be teaching Year 1 Elephants. I look forward to teaching you this year and moving our learning forward. We will be learning about lots of exciting topics and have fun along the way.

I am Miss Punshon the Year 1 class teacher in Pandas. I am so excited for our year of learning together and being a part of your learning journey. I have worked in different primary schools for 6 years, but this is my first year at Holy Trinity. I am so excited to be joining your lovely school and be your teacher. Reading is my favourite thing to do and I cannot wait to share my love of books with you all. In Year 1, we plan to have an exciting year ahead full of fun, learning and growing.

Timetable

Our timetable can be downloaded below. Here, parents and pupils have the opportunity to view the class schedule to see the day-to-day routine including the range of curriculum that is covered. We have found that children with SEND have responded well to visually seeing the structure of the day ahead.

Home Learning

Your child is given a spelling list each Friday as homework which links to the Little Wandle phonics scheme that we follow in the school. We expect children to practise these daily at home and the children do a spelling test every following Friday. All of these books (Big Cat books, reading record, ‘Reading for Pleasure’ book and spelling book) are due and collected on a Thursday then new homework and books are given out on a Friday.

We expect children to read their Collins Big Cat book every day at home and fill in their reading records. We also send home a ‘Reading for Pleasure’ book that adults can read to the children.

Maths homework will be set once a week on the Freckle online learning platform. Phonics homework will be sent home every Friday and needs to be completed and returned the following week.
