Terms/Topic Information

At Holy Trinity C of E Nursery and Primary School, we utilise the Cornerstones scheme of work. Parents will receive a Curriculum Booklet and Knowledge Organiser at the start of each term informing them about what the children will be learning. This will also be available below to download.

During Term 5 of Year 2, pupils will sit National Curriculum tests in Maths and English, known as Standard Attainment Tests (SATs), this data allows us to identify areas of learning that require further consolidation and enable us to support each child in their specific educational needs.

More Infomation about the subjects can be found on our curriculum pages.

Year 2 Homework Expectations

In Year 2, the children are encouraged to read every night on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. However, the children will be given a text to read on Wednesday and they need to read this text to an adult twice within a week. This must be recorded in their Reading Record. An English task is given to the children each Friday to be completed by the following Friday.

Children are expected, alongside their weekly spellings every Friday, to learn the times tables shared with them by the class teacher. A times tables test will commence every two weeks with the focus being the 2 times table in Term 1.  Additional mathematical tasks are available on Freckle (a password-protected website).

All homework tasks are communicated via the orange A4 homework book. This book must be brought in every Friday.
