Celebrating the Joy of Reading on PyjamaRama Day at Holy Trinity
On Thursday, 22nd May, Holy Trinity was filled with excitement, laughter, and the soft rustle of turning pages as we celebrated PyjamaRama Day, a day dedicated to the joy of reading and the comfort of stories.
From the moment the gates opened, there was something magical in the air. Children arrived at school in their comfiest pyjamas, clutching their favourite storybooks and ready for a day unlike any other. Instead of uniforms and routines, the school was filled with cosy onesies, fluffy slippers, and wide-eyed anticipation.
To add to the festivities, we held a special tuck shop during the day, giving children the chance to enjoy a little treat alongside their books. The tuck shop was a big hit, and the extra touch of sweetness made the day even more memorable.
But the true highlight of PyjamaRama Day came in the afternoon, when our Key Stage 2 pupils became reading buddies for the younger children in Key Stage 1, Reception, and Nursery. With books in hand and hearts open, they settled down together in classrooms, corridors, and cosy reading corners to share stories.
It was a beautiful moment of connection across year groups. Older pupils read with care and expression, while the younger children listened intently, eyes wide with wonder. From fairy tales and adventures to animal stories and magical lands, the school was alive with imagination and storytelling.
Seeing the children so engaged, sharing their love of books, and forming bonds through reading was truly heartwarming. PyjamaRama Day was more than just fun in pyjamas, it was a celebration of literacy, empathy, and community.
We are incredibly proud of our pupils for embracing the spirit of the day with such enthusiasm. Events like these remind us how powerful reading can be, not just as a tool for learning, but as a way to bring people together. Here’s to many more days of stories, snuggles, and smiles at Holy Trinity.
