Year 2

Welcome to Year 2!

My name is Miss Costen and I teach Kingfishers. I enjoy teaching Maths and I love reading whole class stories. I am also Computing Lead at Holy Trinity. In my spare time I love spending time with family and friends as well as looking after my family dogs. 

My name is Mrs Hoyte and I teach Nightingales. I enjoy teaching English, acting and I love learning new facts. In my spare time I enjoy making hand made cards, making short videos, watching quiz shows and going for long walks. 

We set high standards throughout all areas of learning and the pupils are encouraged to excel. Together as a team, we are also here to ensure that we deliver the curriculum in a fun and engaging way to provide differentiated learning for pupils. 

PE Day

Kingfishers and Nightingales have their PE day on a Wednesday, children are expected to wear a white round neck t-shirt, black shorts or joggers, black trainers or plimsolls. During the winter months of P.E. school cardigans and jumpers can be worn over the top of the t-shirt.

Year 2 Expectations

For reading, our Little Wandle Books are sent home weekly for the children who did not pass their previous phonics screening. In addition, daily reading books are sent out for all children as and when required by the class teachers. Year 2 have weekly spelling lessons as well as Phonics lessons that happen in and out of class.

For year 2 basic knowledge expectations by term, please look at the table below;
