Young Voices 2022
On Tuesday 24th May 2022, Holy Trinity's Young Voices choir joined together with 8850 other beautifully talented children to sing in front of 10,000 people! This blog post has been written by the pupil's themselves to share their experience with you.
As the coach departed school, we started warming up our voices. Some of us went to sleep to make sure that we had lots of energy for the show. After arriving, we walked rapidly through the rain towards the O2 arena. As we entered the O2 we started to find our seats in the brand new Young Voices end of the arena. Our excitement continued to build. Many of us were thunderstruck and amazed at the sight we saw. The arena was huge!
Next, we met our talented conductor David who helped us to work as a team to sing as one choir. To help us with our dance moves the Urban Striders allowed us to become on of them, so we all felt like real professionals. Although the rehearsals were very intense we still found time to learn a new skill (beatboxing). We were shocked by the awesome sounds that they had made using only their mouths. They even prepared us for a beatboxing competition that we would be having with our parents later in the show. With our newly found skills we would be sure to win the battle.
To entertain ourselves during the break we started a Mexican wave. It was so extraordinary that it want all the way around the O2. After eating our tea we waited in anticipation for the show to begin. All of a sudden the lights dimmed, our hearts were pounding heavily with joy and excitement. The arena was filled with waves of bright lights and piercing screams. The show was about to begin...
The introduction song, lead by David, was called O Fortuna by Carl Orff .It was very dramatic! We were very impressed with how we had the opportunity to preform on the bright, light stage. We were even fortunate enough to preform alongside some very big celebrities such as: Connie Talbot, Tony Hadley, The Shires and Ruti. During the concert we got to sing more of our favourite songs such as the Beatles medley, Mambo Italiano, The Muppets Medley, Sing from your Heart a and the Pop Medley.
As the show continued the Beatbox Collective ran onto the stage the competition was about to begin. Despite our parents best efforts it was not enough to beat the powerful voices of our choir.
After preforming our final song the arena was filled with the loud cheers of the audience. We had finished our performance with pride in our hearts and can't wait to be back at Young Voices again next year.
