Year 4 Topic Play list

This week Year 4 learnt about music and decibels. We learnt that volume is how loud or quiet a sound is. The harder an instrument is hit, plucked or blown, the stronger the vibrations and the louder the sound. The decibel (dB) is the unit used to measure the intensity of a sound. The louder the sound, the higher the decibels.

As part of the first lesson's activity the children were played a jazz song and drew an image that represented the song.

During the second lesson, the children completed an online quiz guessing the sounds of objects.

The main focus of the activity was to match objects with the predicted decibels they might be.

Year 4 children also explored how the ear functions. They were able to label the parts of the ear and describe the functions that played a part in how a human can hear sounds.
