Super Duper You
Term 1 has been very exciting for Robins class. We have had fun settling into our new classroom and meeting all of our new friends and teachers. To get to know our new friends we have been talking about ourselves and our families through our topic ‘All about me.’ We have enjoyed exploring what makes us special and couldn’t believe how diverse our new class family is.
We were inspired by the book “All are welcome here” to discuss our similarities and differences. We used Listening Rabbit to help us to learn how to take turns with our friends.
“My name is different” Abraham
Joel pointed to Tanvir and said “ We are boys”
“ My hair is long” Shanaya
We looked in the mirror to help us to paint our very own self-portraits. Take a look at how we carefully selected the colours we needed for our skin, eyes and hair.
“It’s my face, I’m smiling. Pink is my skin.”Darcey
In our maths learning we enjoyed using string to measure how tall we are. We used language such as taller and smaller to compare our height to our friends. During our planning time we took our learning even further by using the cubes to measure our friends’ hand, feet and arms.
In Literacy we have been learning to recognise the initial sound in our names. We showed our incredible pencil control by tracing around the letter, and we even had a go at writing all of the letters in our name.
As part of our topic, we also discussed our families. We drew a family portrait to help us to tell our friends all about who lives with us and who is special to us.
To finish our topic, we learnt all about the different types of houses we can live in. We learnt that our new friends in Robins class live in lots of different types of houses. Some of our friends live in a flat, some live in a cottage and some live in a house.
We used 2D shapes to create a picture of our own homes. Can you remember what shapes you used?
We have thoroughly enjoyed learning all about our friends this term and we can’t wait to come back after half term to continue our learning journey.
