Planting experiement
This term as part of our topic we have been learning about plants.
Last week, we had great fun learning how to dissect a seed, by taking off the seed coat, and halving the seed to discover different parts within the seed. We found where the shoot started growing from and learnt that seeds have a food store to use before they germinate.
Can you explain to adults at home what germinate means?
This week, we planted our own runner bean seeds. We decided to conduct an experiment for this to see how different conditions can influence how plants grow. Some of our plants are growing with no sunlight, some with no soil, some with no water and some in differing temperatures.
Some of our plants have already started to grow quickly! We will observe the growth of the plants over the next 4 weeks to see which conditions allow the plants to grow the most and therefore the healthiest – so watch this space!
