This term Robins class have been learning all about celebrations. We have been using the book ‘Little Glow’ by Katie Sahota to inspire our learning. We began our journey by learning all about Diwali. We become actors and retold the story of Rama and Sita before creating our very own Diva lamps. Can you see how we used the glitter to make them glow?
After that, we began to explore firework night. We used glitter, paint, pipe cleaners, pom poms and lots of different collage materials to create our very own firework pictures.
In write dance we learnt how to make circular, wavy, straight and dotted lines to draw a firework scene. We listened really carefully to the music to help us know when to draw our lines.
Next, we learnt about Remembrance Day. We discovered that we wear a Poppy to help us to remember the soldiers that died in the war. In our planning time we explored how we can make a poppy in lots of different ways. Take a look at some of our creations below.
To end our topic, we used the book ‘Kippers Birthday’ to learn all about how can celebrate our birthdays. We enjoyed discussing how we celebrate our birthdays and began to plan our very own birthday party for Kipper. We made party hats, birthday cards, counted the candles on Kipper’s birthday cake, wrapped our own presents and even wrote invitations.
How do you celebrate your birthday?
