Holy Trinity CE Primary School

Learning and caring together, building a firm foundation for the future

Will it float or will it sink?

This week in topic we have been doing experiments! Yes you read that right EXPERIMENTS! That means we made a lot of mess.

We are only joking!

We were exploring which objects would sink or float and why.

Did you know a boat does not sink because it is made of wood?

We explored objects made of different materials like pencils, cotton wool, coins and rubber bands.

"The coin is sinking"

" I think the coin will float"

" The cotton wool soaked up some water"

We tested all the things on the list to see if they sink or float.

"The pencil is floating"

What else do you think might float in the water?
