Learning and caring together, building a firm foundation for the future

The Iron Man arrives!

This term out focus book is 'The Iron Man' by Ted Hughes. After reading the first page of the story, we started to explore the size of the iron giant.

“We used chalk to draw the size of his head. We knew it had to be big because in the story it said that it was as big as a bedroom” – Harri

“I didn’t think the head of the Iron Man would be that big!” Ben

We found that a whole class could fit inside the Iron mans head.

This exploration lead into fantastic character descriptions of the Iron Man. We focused on using similes and metaphors to enhance out writing.

His pyramid nose sat proudly on his face” Ruby

“His eyes were as bright as the sun, yet not as hot” – Natasha
