Learning and caring together, building a firm foundation for the future

Wondrous Weaving!

In science this week, we learnt about materials that are used for items of clothing.  We watched a video on how wool is made which showed the process it goes through from being sheared off a sheep to being made into a soft or hard wool.  We identified properties of materials including wool, silk, lycra, netting and cotton by looking at a range of clothes.

This week, we also learnt the skill of weaving!  We identified that straw baskets are made through the technique of weaving which uses an up and over process.  We had a go by creating our own paper weaves.

It was a bit tricky for some of us but we helped each other and learnt the skill together.
