Showtime and innovative fashion!

Year 6 have been continuing their work on play scripts in English, percentages in mathematics and exploring more fashion ideas in Topic.
This week Year 6 have written, rehearsed and performed play scripts based on the Aesop's fable 'The Lion and the Mouse'. It has been great fun and Mr Smit decided to give a performance during Friday's live English session:
See George's play script:
Here is Molly's play script:

A fantastic job! Thank you to all the pupils who really got into the spirit of the tasks!
In Topic we thought about the concept of fast fashion. This is considering how clothes are often made cheaply and thrown out after few wears for a replacement piece of clothing. We debated the pros and cons of this.
We then thought about how some designers innovatively use every day items around them to create clothing, such as cardboard, plastic cups, plastic bin bags, CDs, newspapers and leaves. We also explored jewellery made from sweet wrappers, string, lolly sticks, buttons, rope, straws and nut shells. Using these ideas for inspiration, we had a go at designing or making our own fashion items using every day things that we could find at home. Take a look at our innovations:
Natasha cleverly used a plastic bag, string and CDs to create this dress.
Chidinma created a lovely bracelet.
We wish you all a happy, healthy and relaxing half term break, and look forward to hearing about it and seeing your faces back in Term 4 (starting Tuesday 23rd February 2021)!
