Learning and caring together, building a firm foundation for the future

Poetry for Justice

In Year 4, we have fired up our sense of injustice! We studied poetry and songs written to change the world. We looked at John Lennon and Bob Marley songs, and wrote about our own Imagined worlds.

We learnt about Malala and her fight for education. Also, we were inspired by an anonymous poem written by a girl who witnessed a Black Lives Matter protest. We thought about what was important to US.

We wish we could invite our families in to see the amazing diversity of what we wrote! The display looks great - and shows ALL our voices - even in some different languages!

We looked at acrostic poems, but also at song writing - with rhyme and repetition for effect. Can you see which kind each poem is?

Your voice is powerful - what are you using it for?
