Positively Peachy!

Year 3 have been reading the story of James and the Giant Peach in their Immersive Reading lessons this term. We have been exploring new vocabulary and analysing the text as well as thoroughly enjoying the story. We extended our learning this week by writing our own versions of part of the story in our Every Picture tells a Story English lesson.
We last left the characters inside the peach as they bobbed along in the sea. We can't wait to find out what happens next!
In art we have been continuing to practise cross-hatching with different pencils. This week we applied this skill to show light and shade on our own drawings of buildings. We learnt that darker shade is created with closer cross-hatching lines.
We hope to continue exploring light and shade in the following weeks using different drawing materials such as art pens and charcoal. Be sure to look out for the results in future blogs!
