Learning and caring together, building a firm foundation for the future

Our exciting home learning!

What an exciting two weeks we have had in Reception!

We have been busy learning about our book ' Aliens Love Underpants', making rainbows and also learning about the number 6 and size. We have been very busy!

Would you like to see all our lovely learning?

In Literacy, we have been reading the book 'Aliens Love Underpants'. We have been busy drawing pictures of our aliens and also using adjectives to describe them!

Do you know what an adjective is?

We also made a prediction! Yes that is a big word!

It means to make a guess. Did you know that?

                                                                        Our amazing Phonics learning!
We have been learning new sounds and also practising sounds that we have already learnt by writing words.

In Maths, we have been learning about the number 6 and size. We have enjoyed our maths learning lots as we got to do it outside in the snow. We compared the size of our hands and feet with our adults, we made snowmen of different sizes and measured different things in our houses by using a measuring tape, a ruler or even our hands and feet. It was great fun!

In our Topic, we have been learning about rainbows. We knew that we see a rainbow in the sky. We however did a magic trick! We made a rainbow on our plates! How exciting!

Do you know how a rainbow is formed?

Can you guess how we made these rainbows on our plates?

We enjoyed painting and colouring rainbows and learning how a rainbow is formed. As a part of our learning of 'Space', we made a straw rocket and also created an astronaut using tin foil.
We also made 'Worry Monsters' using materials we had at home. When we are worried about something, we write it down or draw a picture of something that is worrying us. We then feed that to our worry monster and talk to someone about it.

We would like to thank all the adults for supporting the children with their learning everyday! We hope you all have a lovely half term whilst staying safe and get lots of rest!
