Learning and caring together, building a firm foundation for the future

Forest of Colours

With a forest to explore and colours to understand and blend, Year 6 were encapsulated by the power of colour this week…

On Wednesday, both Year 6 classes were mashed into a classroom to learn about the power and meaning of colour. We learned what colours signify and how changes of  hues and saturations occur.

Using blending and mixing techniques, we explored  different colours and picked those with which we we closely identified.

On Thursday, both Year 6 classes were challenged to make a shelter using only basic instructions and materials. The teams worked assiduously  to construct a structure that would withstand the elements.

Finally on Friday, we explored how powerful our ideas can be. With the colours we explored on Wednesday, we created backgrounds of our idea posters where we will be expressing our thoughts and identify using poetry and colour.
