Holy Trinity CE Primary School

Learning and caring together, building a firm foundation for the future

First Week back

The new Year 6 classes were welcomed into a week of democratic discussions and work...

Within our week of Democracy, each class studied examples of political and motivating speeches and they contributed and responded to them. They've begun to magpie ideas in preparation for next week where they will be writing their own speech for the school council elections.

After looking at and discussing excellent speeches, both classes wrote a shared speech where we used different techniques and words to write the best speech that we could. Then students were given the task to think of what things they would say in their speeches and soon began writing their own. Here are some of their speeches below, along with the shared write:

My fellow classmates,

I stand before you today with steadfast confidence and an honest heart in the absolute belief that I would make an assiduous School Councillor, who would make you extremely proud.

I will give my comprehensive commitment if chosen. I will ensure that every pupil has a voice whose views are valued. I will consistently make time to be available to listen to my peers with the respect that they deserve. I will consistently demonstrate, in abundance, the school values of love, honesty and respect to every individual pupil - no matter who you decide to choose.

I honestly believe this school is brimming with amazing as well as talented children. I honestly believe that I can assist in helping each pupil flourish to reach their maximum potential. I honestly believe that every child in this school deserves joy and the enriching experiences that enlightens their education and childhood. If you elect me I will strive to maintain this in addition to contributing my own ideas.

It would be a tremendous honour to be elected. All I ask of you is to think carefully and wisely about this important decision. Choose me for this prestigious role.

   Thank you for your time.

My fellow classmates,

I stand before you with the courage and the will power to stand for the role of school councillor.

Currently I am a peer mediator and leading light. Like my sister once did, I would like to add school councillor to my roles. I will give a comprehensive effort if chosen. I will ensure that everybody has a say and that their own opinion is put into notion. I will ensure that I have what it takes to be an assiduous school councillor with the qualities of patience, tenderness and responsibility.

I honestly believe this school is brimming with excellence. I honestly believe that I can assist in helping the school and my peers flourish in amazement. I honestly believe that every child deserves unlimited joy and happiness that enlightens their education and childhood.  If you elect me I will try my hardest to serve you.

It would be an extravagant honour to be elected. So vote for me!

   Thank you for your time.

My fellow classmates,

Today I stand before you with the complete belief that I shall make this school a better place. Like Martin Luther King, I too have a dream and wish to fulfil it and I will show diligence and honesty in all I do, if chosen to be your school councillor.

I will give my absolute comprehensive commitment, if chosen, and will attend to every single need. I will give my utmost respect that you and my every peer deserves. Martin Luther King once quoted that ‘all men are created equal’ and I believe this. I will use these inspiring words to make the school, the classrooms and each pupil equal and welcoming.

As you all know the school councillor is a very important and prestigious role. As a strong candidate give me a chance to help make a positive contribution to the school because I am passionate about this role.

It has been an honour to speak to you and I hope you give everyone a fair opportunity.

   Thank you.
