Learning and caring together, building a firm foundation for the future

Skylarks elections

We have been learning about democracy and held a hustings and an election for our school council representative.

As part of our class elections for school council representative we wrote our speeches during our English lessons.  We had an opportunity to try them out with a friend and then up level them.  Finally we gave the speeches to the whole class.  This was a little bit scary but we were able to do it.

After the speeches we marched straight off to the polling booths to cast our votes.

"It has been really wonderful learning about democracy as I now understand what is happening when my parents vote."  Lily
