Learning and caring together, building a firm foundation for the future

Amazing African Masks!

What an exciting week it has been in Reception!

We have been learning about 'Black History Month'. We learned that people were treated differently because of the colour of their skin.

Did you know it is celebrated every year in October?

We created handprints of our skin colour to put around a globe to show that we are all one.

We also did some painting! YES! WE LOVE TO PAINT!

We explored Africa further by looking at different artefacts and we are also learning a song relating to this.

Have a look at our beautiful creations!

We created our own individual unique African masks.

We used lots of different colours to make the different features!

"I've made two eyes"

"I've made a pattern by making lots of dots."

" I used my fingers to paint"

"I made mine colourful just like the pictures we saw."

What do you think of our masks?

We enjoyed making these masks and look forward to more amazing learning!
