Learning and caring together, building a firm foundation for the future

Global citizens

Year 5 have had a busy start to term 3 and are looking forward to the term ahead. In our English learning we are beginning to enjoy our book 'Rooftoppers' by Katherine Rundell and have created some great rooftop scenes following on from our visualisation work.

We have been starting to think about what skills and attributes are needed to be good citizens as part of our 'Going Global' topic.

Having had an opportunity to discuss the qualities of a good member of our school, local and global communities, our words/phrases were put into a wordle for us to reflect on.

Barn Owls - A good school member should be...

Puffins - A good member of the global community should be...

Do you see any similarities?

What do you feel are the most important attributes to have whilst being a good member of our community?

So far on reading Rooftoppers, I find it a very good book! I enjoyed it when we did the rooftops in Paris lesson, and I thought it was beautiful. There are some words that I noticed that popped up a lot, and that was kind and caring. I think you should be a law abider, and help other people.

In my opinion the wordals are all similar because they all tell you to do good, positive things. I think that the most important attributes to have in school and outside of school is to respect people for who they are and who they want to be.
