Learning and caring together, building a firm foundation for the future

Happy New Year ... We Are Off!!

As an engaging entry point into our topic we decided to throw on our holiday clothes, pack our suitcases and head off to the travel agents to book an unforgettable holiday to India.

When we arrived at the travel agents, which had been set up in our classrooms, we searched through travel brochures to find the perfect hotel at our holiday destination. We chose our hotels based on things such as if they had a pool, gym and activities. With our minds made up, we filled out our holiday booking forms and awaited our time to head to start our journey. Excitedly, we gathered all our luggage, passports and booking forms and lined up ready to go to the airport.

By the time, we had exited our front door and lined up at the back door our classrooms had miraculously transformed from a travel agents to an airport. Once we entered the airport, we experienced what it is like to go through a real airport from beginning to end. We went through security, passport control and baggage check. Finally, once we had all the right paperwork, we waited anxiously in the departure lounge to board our flight.

When the time came, a tannoy message announced that our flight was ready for boarding. Entering our flight, we stowed our luggage away and took our seats. To make sure we knew how to act on an aeroplane, we watched a safety demonstration video and we learnt what to do in an emergency. Finally, it was time for take-off!

After an exhausting 8-hour flight, we landed in India and experienced some delicious Indian cuisine.

It was fantastic for some of us to experience an airport and to travel to another country.

All this amazing travel within one Tuesday afternoon and from the comfort of our own classroom and hall.
